'Plantable Mats & Coasters' launching at Pulse 2010
Each mat or coaster incorporates a handmade paper sheet embedded with seeds. When planted, the paper breaks down in to the soil, creating a mulch around the seeds. Just water, keep in a warm spot and soon seedlings will grow!
Plantable table mats and coasters are made using 100% natural, recycled and 'upcycled' products. The seed paper is a by-product from the manufacture of other lines in the Plant a Bloomer range and includes 100% post consumer waste paper and natural inclusions. Each mat or coaster also incorporates an underlay of Lokta paper, produced using a traditional process from the fibres of the Lokta plant. A natural resin adhesive is used to bind together the seed paper and Lokta paper layers.

This innovative product is now available 3 designs; Bloom in vibrant yellows and greens, Heart in pretty pinks, red and purples and Christmas
in sparkling gold, bronze and silver-white. Each design incorporates a
bold 'cut-out' pattern, and a beautiful textured finish, enhanced with
inclusions of flowers and ferns (Bloom and Heart) or natural mica
flakes (Christmas). The mats and coasters are sold separately and presented in a ribbon tied bundle without extra unnecessary
packaging. Planting instructions and information about the seed paper
are included.
Made in the UK: Plantable table mats and coasters are die-cut and assembled in UK.
Eco-friendly: Seed paper is handmade from 100% recycled post consumer waste. Lokta paper is handmade using traditional processes, from an abundant self generating shrub found in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Rani Deshpande established her design studio in 2004, having spotted a gap in the market for contemporary personalised stationery and gifts. Since then, her distinctive creations have won her many commissions and she has created designs for several prestigious companies.

In 2009 Rani launched a new collection of eco-friendly plantable gifts: Little Bloomers. The range proved an instant hit and was shortlisted for Gift of the Year in the Eco-friendly category. Deco Bloomers and Pop-up Bloomers were the next additions to the quirky Plant a Bloomer range. Most recently, Pop Up Christmas Decorations were selected for Gift of the Year 2010 shortlist.
