Plant a Bloomer – The Story
The Plant a Bloomer range has been developed by Rani Deshpande. Rani worked in graphics, gift design and publishing, before establishing her design studio, Rani Deshpande Unique Creations, in 2004.
For one of her first clients, Rani designed a wedding favour; a beautiful flower embedded with seeds. Created from a unique seed paper made from recycled materials, the flower could be ‘planted’— to grow seedlings! The plantable flower proved hugely popular and soon became much sought-after as a memorable and environmentally friendly wedding favour.
In 2009 Rani launched Plant a Heart, the first design in the Little Bloomers range. Recommended by Time Out magazine in their Valentine’s feature, ‘Alternative romantic things to do’ the product became an instant hit and was shortlisted for eco-friendly Gift of the Year. Deco Bloomers, plantable decorations and Pop-up Bloomers, three-dimensional plantable gifts and decorations, were the next additions to the quirky Plant a Bloomer range.
Rani's work is informed by her passion for colour, texture and style. She takes pleasure in working with everyday materials to create unique products that will delight and surprise.
